Jannicke Laker is one of the very few Norwegian artists that has consistently worked with video and developed the media into a powerful tool, using low-tech video language as a starting point. Her background is from the cross-media milieu under professor Jeremy Welsh at the art academy in Trondheim in the mid 90ties. There, video and data were used as an important artistic language. Lakers productions are simple, however they are planned, to the extent of their frame and story. One exception is however a series of short videos, Spiderwoman, Spiderman and From Between my Legs in which the artist uses her own body in a sexualized performance. These short videos recall American performance artists from the 60-and 70ties such as Paul McCarthy, Bruce Nauman, Joan Jonas and Vito Acconci. However in her performances Laker has a surprising feministic twist where she is the desiring force and where she almost literary eats the male. Maybe Laker is better known for the videos in which she exposes herself and her objects. Revealing by the camera. In her behavior she is reminiscent of the British Trasy Emin (...) but while Emin mostly exposes herself Laker is more concerned about exposing others. (...) It is the videos in which the artist herself is directly involved, either in front or behind the camera, that the expression is most powerful. Here Laker shows a devil-may-care attitude, which has made her one of the most interesting and exciting Norwegian video artist in around the millennium.

Aktivität, Entspannung, Reinigung.... Die Sauna kann alles. In reduzierter Form handelt es sich um
einen heißen Raum plus kaltes Wasser/Luft. Kalte Luft und kaltes Wasser gibt es (im Winter) überall.
Da fehlt zum Glücklichsein doch nur das heiße Räumchen.
NOVA wird 2005 den Menschen eine mobile Sauna zur Verfügung stellen. Es werden
unterschiedlichste Orte mit Saunaktionen bespielt. Die Sauna erschließt Orte/Plätze welche im Winter ungenutzt
bleiben. Der Saunagang schärft die Sinne, die Orte werden neu erlebt. Es entsteht eine Kur-Installation im
öffentlichen Raum. Ein Caravan wird die Sauna, sowie nötige Infrastruktur beherbergen. Wir werden uns an die
Wasserversorgung andocken oder Seen, Flüsse und Meere ansteuern. nova
